“As they stood outside the commandeered government building in the town of Mohassen, it was hard to distinguish Abu Khuder’s men from any other brigade in the Syrian civil war, in their combat fatigues, T-shirts and beards.
But these were not average members of the Free Syrian Army. Abu Khuder and his men fight for al-Qaida. They call themselves the ghuraba’a, or “strangers”, after a famous jihadi poem celebrating Osama bin Laden’s time with his followers in the Afghan mountains, and they are one of a number of jihadi organisations establishing a foothold in the east of the country now that the conflict in Syria has stretched well into its second bloody year.
They try to hide their presence. “Some people are worried about carrying the [black] flags,” said Abu Khuder. “They fear America will come and fight us. So we fight in secret. Why give Bashar and the west a pretext?” But their existence is common knowledge in Mohassen. Even passers-by joke with the men about car bombs and IEDs.
According to Abu Khuder, his men are working closely with the military council that commands the Free Syrian Army brigades in the region. “We meet almost every day,” he said. “We have clear instructions from our [al-Qaida] leadership that if the FSA need our help we should give it. We help them with IEDs and car bombs. Our main talent is in the bombing operations.” Abu Khuder’s men had a lot of experience in bomb-making from Iraq and elsewhere, he added.
Abu Khuder spoke later at length. He reclined on a pile of cushions in a house in Mohassen, resting his left arm which had been hit by a sniper’s bullet and was wrapped in plaster and bandages. Four teenage boys kneeled in a tight crescent in front of him, craning their necks and listening with awe. Other villagers in the room looked uneasy.”
When I read this article about Dr. Tim Kuberski’s new book “The Trembling Flu” based on his experiences in the field as an infectious disease expert and clinician, I immediately thought of a book I am currently reading called “The Final Jihad.” Four years prior to the OKC bombing, it was written by Martin Keating, brother of Frank Keating, the Oklahoma City Mayor at the time of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
In The Final Jihad, Martin Keating writes about a key terrorist in his fictional novel named Tom McVey, and at one point in the story McVey is pulled over for a broken tail light by an Oklahoma highway patrolman. Coincidentally, on the morning of the OKC bombing, Timothy McVeigh was pulled over by a state trooper for a missing license plate.
The Final Jihad is a prophetic blueprint, a warning of horrifying upcoming acts of terrorism targeted against the United States. It’s a wake-up call no one should ignore.

I suppose we’ll just have to watch and see if Dr. Kuberski’s novel becomes a reality.

Here’s what it takes to make a deadly virus transmissible through the air: as few as five genetic mutations, according to a new study.
This research, published in the journal Science, is the second of two controversial studies to finally be released that examines how the H5N1 bird flu virus can be genetically altered and transmitted in mammals. Publication of both studies had been delayed many months due to fears that the research could be misused and become a bio-security threat.

“The deadly police shooting of an unarmed man in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday sparked a series of violent protests over the weekend, aggravating already high tensions between police and citizens.
More than a hundred residents of northeastern Anaheim reacted to the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Manuel Diaz by police by setting fire to garbage dumpsters in the street and throwing bottles at police officers Saturday night.
Police fired pepper balls and bean bags to control the crowd. The unrest escalated when a police dog escaped a squad car through an open window and bit at least two people. Five people were arrested.
The protests continued on Sunday, with dozens of people lining the streets outside police headquarters and then storming into the lobby chanting “shame,” “no justice, no peace,” and “cops, pigs and murderers,” as officials went into a press conference regarding the controversial shooting.
Protesters said they wanted to know what threat Diaz posed to officers.
The protest at the Anaheim Police Department was the latest in a series of actions by families of shooting victims, some of whom have been holding weekly protests for nearly two years at police headquarters in Orange County, NBCLosAngeles.com reported.
Anaheim Police Chief John Welter said two officers were placed on paid leave after one of them shot Diaz around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Welter said officers were patrolling a neighborhood in northeastern Anaheim when they approached three men allegedly acting suspiciously in an alley, NBCLosAngeles.com reported.
As police started questioning Diaz, who was standing outside a car talking to the two men inside, the car drove off and Diaz started running. Police chased him down and shot him.
“He was shot first in the back, but he was down,” Diaz’s mother, Genevieve Huizar, told NBCLosAngeles.com through tears Sunday, “then they shot him a second time. They shot him in the head.”
Welter said he can’t say why police shot Diaz during the chase, but he did confirm no weapon was found at the crime scene.
“At this time, there’s no information that he was armed when he was shot,” Welter said at a press conference, “but we don’t know what was thrown away as he was running away from the officers, and that was not found, according to the district attorney’s office.”
Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait called for an independent probe into a fatal police shooting, asking the state attorney general’s office to get involved.
“Transparency is essential,” Tait said during a press conference at the Anaheim Police Department. “The investigation will seek the truth, and whatever the truth is, we will own it.”
Anaheim was one of six California cities with populations greater than 100,000 that saw a big spike in violent crime last year, according to an analysis of FBI crime data released in June.”

I do not mean to minimize this awful, unexplainable, bizarre tragedy, but I have to say it: In the video at the link I posted above, it seems like the eyewitness practiced his monologue about the events and was probably a theater student in high school. It is a very dramatic, and seemingly rehearsed delivery. That does not mean it isn’t genuine, but I found it uncomfortable to watch. It felt like I was in acting class watching a fellow wannabe actor. Maybe he is just an expressive guy. If so, my heart goes out to him and everyone else that had to experience such a horrific, unbelievable, baffling, well-organized brutal massacre. Or it’s propaganda. I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but this tragedy is being exploited by gun control advocates. We know the globalists don’t want us to have guns, and we know the media is controlled by corrupt globalist corporations, and we know a controversial U.N. Arms Trade Treaty that has met plenty of opposition is set to be signed on July 27. It’s not inconceivable that the man was encouraged to have his story ready and be sure to show emotion. I suppose we’ll never know.
May the victims rest in peace and their families find out the truth about exactly who is behind this, what the motive was, and how it was executed. I just do not buy that this young man did this alone. I do not believe the story we’re being fed, however I will not pretend to know what actually did happen. It’s convenient timing to sway public support in favor of gun control, and it is a high profile case of a crazy American killing people, playing into the DHS’s hunt for domestic terrorists and criminals. The police state continues to unfold.

A semi-automatic AR-15 was specifically mentioned in the above news report. I just want to say for the record, I weigh a little over a hundred pounds, I don’t strength train, and I can hold and shoot a semi-automatic AR-15 the same as I can hold and shoot a 22 mm rifle. It is not heavy, uncomfortable, or difficult, and has very little kick. There are revolvers out there that would knock me off of my feet, and they are not automatic or semi-automatic weapons. While an AR-15 is certainly just as capable of killing a person as any firearm, it is not a bazooka or machine gun.
Is the demonization of AR 15s stemming from the semi-automatic classification? The news report failed to say that there are military models and civilian models of the rifle. Military models have a three round burst, meaning 3 bullets are released with one pull of the trigger. How many bullets does a civilian semi-automatic AR-15 shoot per pull of the trigger? Just one.
Do you know what other guns are semi-automatic? Most pistols, meaning handguns, are semi-automatic. Semi-automatic pistols shoot the same amount of bullets per pull of the trigger as a revolver, which is not a semi-automatic weapon, as I stated above. How many bullets does it shoot per pull of the trigger? Like the AR-15, just one. Semi-automatic rifles and semi-automatic pistols are semi-automatic weapons because the bullet automatically loads into the cartridge, not because you can hold down the trigger and waste everyone in the room. The media is taking this misconception and running with it. Spread the truth.

If it sounds like an epic MIT student prank crossed with a bizarre corporate social media campaign, that’s because that’s pretty much what it is. EDF Energy, a major UK energy company and sponsor of the London Eye, hired a team of MIT engineers to develop an algorithm that scans Olympics-related tweets and assigns them points based on the intensity of positive or negative sentiment expressed therein. If the tweets are, say, 75 percent positive, the London Eye will turn 75 percent yellow.
How does it know what tweets are positive? According to the Telegraph, the algorithm checks the tweets against a library of some 2,750 words and phrases, including emoticons and non-standard English expressions like “omg” and, uh, “totes amazeballs.” Punctuation marks and intensifiers like “very” get factored in as well.
CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) — The Marine Corps has created its first law enforcement battalions – a lean, specialized force of military police officers that it hopes can quickly deploy worldwide to help investigate crimes from terrorism to drug trafficking and train fledgling security forces in allied nations.
The Corps activated three such battalions last month. Each is made up of roughly 500 military police officers and dozens of dogs. The Marine Corps has had police battalions off and on since World War II but they were primarily focused on providing security, such as accompanying fuel convoys or guarding generals on visits to dangerous areas, said Maj. Jan Durham, commander of the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion at Camp Pendleton.
The idea behind the law enforcement battalions is to consolidate the military police and capitalize on their investigative skills and police training, he said. The new additions come as every branch in the military is trying to show its flexibility and resourcefulness amid defense cuts.
Marines have been increasingly taking on the role of a street cop along with their combat duties over the past decade in Iraq and Afghanistan, where they have been in charge of training both countries’ security forces. Those skills now can be used as a permanent part of the Marine Corps, Durham said.
The war on terror has also taught troops the importance of learning how to gather intelligence, secure evidence and assist local authorities in building cases to take down criminal networks. Troops have gotten better at combing raid sites for clues to help them track insurgents.
They also have changed their approach, realizing that marching into towns to show force alienates communities. Instead, they are being taught to fan out with interpreters to strike up conversations with truck drivers, money exchangers, cellphone sellers and others. The rapport building can net valuable information that could even alert troops about potential attacks.
Bill Whittle’s delivery in this video is comical, but unfortunately the information he brings is not. It’s almost too easy to point out all of Obama’s broken promises, contradictions, lies, and other questionable behavior, like eliminating the fourth amendment and killing American citizens, even those under the age of 18, without due process.

We have to work for the greater good to be successful. Obama is running for president because he believes in communitarianism, an evolved form of communism. The government will take care of you because it will make us work together, and that is he only way we can be successful. (Unfortunately the help government gives [forces upon] us is the opposite of freedom.)

With the London Olympics dangerously short on security personnel, organizers have contracted the U. S. Transportation Security Administration to help protect against terrorist attacks during the Games, according to reports late Tuesday.
The news follows a Home Affairs Select Committee hearing where Nick Buckles, head of security firm G4S, admitted his company agreed to provide 10,400 security personnel for the Olympics, but has only hired and trained 4,000.
